Babymetal isn't really something new. They've been around for a few years, they've already released a second album, they've already toured the US and UK. And for manufactured idol-style singers with a metal/rock backing band, their sound can vary enough from song to song that it's interesting to fans of different types of music.

I find stuff like Band-Maid to be "weirder" than Babymetal because they're actually playing their own music, which does not frequently happen in Japanese or Korean groups with a gimmick like that.
