Been a WHILE since I've looked on there. Any other sites worth looking at.

Yes, very much so, but greatly depends on what you are looking for.

Did you not like the IWC

If we are talking about the Mark XV fleiger, I think at the time, I didn't love the handset on that iteration (had the squared off hour hand). But the black buffalo leather strap that came on that watch is one of the best plain leather straps I've ever come across and the IWC deployant clasp is superb. IWC switched to sword hands for that watch in later issues. I have since come to appreciate it more, but don't terribly regret trading it (can't remember what I traded it for lol). I would take it back in a heart beat over the fleiger UTC I have - similar case dimensions which are favorable to me, but the simple fleigers are several mm thinner than the UTC version and I have a couple of versions of what I consider a much more desirable dual time zone watch (GMTs are a bit of a thing for me). If we are talking about the Portugiesers, it was purely an issue of how they sat on my wrist and what I perceived as wearing too big.

I will say that at that phase of my watch collection or whatever you want to call it, I was rebellious and enamored more with the idea of IWC as a IYKYK watch than how they fit me in the flesh. Their execution is exceptional and what I would describe as one of the more Teutonic of the Swiss brands, but in general the proportions of most of the ones that I owned were not what I ultimately settled into for myself, much like my since passed dalliances with Panerai.

I now recognize that my sweet spot is the 36-40 mm range, and currently only have one watch outside of that in the Speedy Pro at 42 mm (excluding my G-shocks and CasiOaks).

Really just what I’ve mentioned in the thread.

Tudor and now Glaschuttes.

More of a dive watch stainless steel guy. That’s why the SeaQ only really. Tudor of course has a ton.

Looking at Tudor prices just pisses me off more. Rolex wants to be more.

Honestly, for Tudor, I would seriously consider going retail at an AD. Should be attainable at an AD, and I am not sure if the delta (on the newer references that is) between AD and Gray/used/any secondary market is really great enough to justify the leap of faith. I love having full set box and papers on newer watches as well. Those are definitely findable even on secondary with patience.

GO is going to take more work, as there just aren't that many around, so I would pay attention to the sales forum at rolexforums.com (there is a Rolex/Tudor adn a non-Rolex section) and I will say I've had good luck buying from domestic dealers on Chrono 24 - communication with the seller is paramount if you go this route, and don't make rash decisions. Back to rolexforums.com - the buy/sell forum has a section of trusted seller boutiques - I've done some deals with some of those guys and am happy to talk on or off this forum as well if you like.

You can also use eBay as a resource - a lot of those listings are cross-posted on other platforms and they do have their guaranteed authentication process now as well.

I'll tell you something that is under your price range, but I have been really wanting to see in person is the Bulova Mil Ships. 200m diver domed sapphire, Miyota automatic movement, 41 mm case, a little thick but darn good looking. I would be interested to see how it looks on wrist and how the 16 mm lug width affects the wearability. Definitely a step down in brand prestige, but the name does carry some historical weight for American watchmaking, even though it is owned by Citizen now.

Not my pic, not my wrist (company website)

Domed Crystal?

Like a Corum (I believe thats right) with that thick piece? Center on those looked to be 1/4" thick.

Thats a nice one. 16mm lug width would be a deal killer for me. To used to 20mm now. Band and bracelet options are endless at 20mm
