It is sad, but probably a good idea.

If they ever get off their phone - I think they are talking to me and they are talking to an ear pieces to someone else.

Photographic technology has come a long way....used to be ugly folks would break a camera...a heaping pile of customers at the average WalMart would shatter the shite out of a camera back in the day. The kind of ugly you use to ugly down high flying geese but don't dare use on squirrels because they'd be tore up so bad you wouldn't have nothing to put in the dumplings....

Lol employees not going wear that shite. So they can be shown fricking off as shitty employees.

I'd bet a coca-cola that this is actually why they are using them, to monitor employee activity.

I was at a home depot in a pretty high income area of Atlanta this past weekend and the employees were dropping so many F bombs I thought I had stumbled into the Punchline Comedy Club. Same thing happened the last time I was in a WalMart, again in a pretty high-income area. Was at another WalMart about 3 months ago and the young woman who was working the self check out line was apparently having problems with a man and letting him know in no uncertain words that she was not happy with his behavior....her manager was there the whole time playing the roll of Cyrano de Bergerac....

Good.

Anyone assaulting the people doing these jobs should be blacklisted from going back and fined.

Ridiculous.

Seriously....who the frick gets mad at a WalMart employee? They are making about $10 an hour....what kind of service do you expect? The same is true at fast food places....you gotta read the fricking room man. If you are dumb enough to walk into or drive up to Krystals location you gotta know it ain't gonna be a pleasant experience.....

Detain the shoplifters then force them to stand in line to wait to check out. The misery of that experience would be worst than any jailtime they might receive (and probably longer)

I am pretty certain there is something in the constitution about cruel and unusual punishment.....making a serial pedophile rapist / murdered stand in a WalMart line is over the top.....just shoot the frickers.

The problem is that about 70% of shoplifting done at WalMart is done by the people they are asking to wear these cameras.

They could sell the footage as a reality/comedy show. We could all tune in and see how the poors live their lives.

I lived in Europe in from 2007 - 2012 and there was an America's Funniest Home Video type show on German TV that was exactly this - somehow they got store video footage from mostly WalMart stores across the US....it was pretty popular. It was not the best and brightest of US society.....

When they fire those employees, who will replace them?

The truly criminal aspect of the surge in shoplifting is there is no data to support it is actually happening. The rate of shoplifting has been steadily declining since the early 1990s and took a nosedive in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID and store hours being shortened. Considering that the retailers do not give a rats arse if someone walks out the door with a buggy full of shite the fact that there isn't a severe uptick in the amount of shite being stolen is amazing. I know everyone wants to believe that the world is rife with danger and crime is out of control but it simply ain't so....and media outlets constantly spewing the BS is as serious a crime as shoplifting.

I dont steal but I used to refuse to show my receipt when asked.

There must be some funny clips of me dodging the greeter and running out the door.

ETA: Walmart has every right to check receipts. Im glad I googled it before I got arrested.
