Wife and I live in a rural area outside Amite and have century link which is DSL. It is very cheap like 45$ but internet isn’t very good for streaming and what not. And we don’t have many options.
But we can get Viasat. But only thing is the data caps they have then speeds start to slow. Any recommendations or anybody that has Viasat???

Typically sat internet sucks due to the high latency. I would keep an eye on Starlink and the other LEO constellation coming in the next few years before you switch.

Lived in BFE Tennessee for a summer and I used HughesNet which was better than local internet provider we had. At least allowed me to watch Peaky Blinders without much buffering. Idk about Viasat but I've heard it's better than HughesNet
If your download is like 5-10mbps no use switching

Viasat has a new satellite, so it's "supposed" to be better and fast but still has lag due to it being satellite internet. Check with ATT or Verizon on their hotspots, I got a customer of mine 80G of data/month for $60/month on ATT. Depending on how much you stream or people in the house, it's not a bad deal.

Satellite is dependent on the terrain and obstructions. That area is relatively flat so that is fine, but if you have a lot of trees and there is no clear line of sight, you are better off with DSL. In addition, you're gonna be mad any time there's a bad storm/strong winds. t

Stick to DSL or Fixed Wireless....do not get satellite internet.
They promise these high upload and download speeds...but what they don't tell you is how bad the latency, transmission, and propagation delays are.
Your signal has to leave your dish on earth...travel up to satellite in space...get beamed back down to earth...get processed on earth...sent back satellite...and then get beamed back down to your dish. The signal has to leave earth twice.
I am an IT Administrator so I had to study this shite in networking classes.
My mother lives in rural Mississippi and the best option I've found for her is AT&T Fixed Wireless. It's basically a large antenna they mount on the side of your house and they point it towards cell phone tower.
