For all those saying that these places are vacant because it's a shithole are ignorant.
The area (along with the CBD, Bywater, St. Roch, etc.) is gentrifying at an astronomical rate and the original owners can't afford the leases. These buildings may be vacant right now, but I can promise you they'll be full of construction before you even realize it.
I work in commercial construction and there are so many projects ongoing and in the bid process right now that it would blow your mind.

Indeed I did, buddy. Project Manager at a commercial flooring company; I've got about eight projects I'm working on, the Superdome/Arena being one.
