Filling it out for myself for service connected disability, all online and a piece of cake.
This. Scan it ALL in and do it all online. The response times are much quicker if you go this route. My disability claim took 8 months start to finish (actually seeing $$$ in my checking account).

Should all be on the DD214.
Unfortunately for older war dogs it is not. My grandfather alive still today served in WWII got all of his ship documents, training docs, PCS duty station docs etc. I also asked for a copy of medals on his behalf to give to him and they provided them. Also I served 2000-2006 and mine docs were sent all hard copy. These docs will help fellow war dogs substantially one to remember their dates for their verbal account for their claim as well physically al proof to back up their claim.
Good luck to all with their process or their family members process as they don’t make it easy for all of us.

Our experience with the VA was 100% positive with my Dad.
They determined his hearing loss over the decades after WW2 was due to firing twin 50s in a turret. 31 missions before becoming a POW. He never said a word about it until he was 81. He accrued those benefits.
It was a very large check, and they moved mountains to treat his condition. I hear horror stories, but ours isn’t one of them.
