Short-term housing, emergency food stamps approved for Louisiana flood victims
Aug 20, 2016
The governor said that the Federal Emergency Management Agency will pay for hotel rooms on a rolling, 30-day basis.
Storm victims who are staying in cars, hotels, shelters, or their workplace are eligible,
but not those staying with friends and family.
FEMA officials will contact people based on information provided when they signed up for federal disaster assistance online or by phone.
The governor said a disaster food stamp program will begin Monday in eight parishes.
Baton Rouge residents have to wait until Aug. 29.

If a Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) is implemented, this pre-registration will be available to the agency.
You will have to go to a D-SNAP site for an eligibility interview.

LSU EMPLOYEE/STUDENT ASSISTANCE FUND:
The Baton Rouge Area Foundation has established the LSU Employee Assistance Fund and the Student Disaster Relief Fund. Both sites are accessible through LINK LSU has an established food pantry and laundry service and also provided complimentary dinner service courtesy of LSU Dining/Chartwells.
