I just finished my Phd online. It took 4 years and I am 38 now. I started in Fall 2020 and we had two kids in that time, worked full time, and moved houses. It was not easy but I learned to work fast in the short time I was given, like when kids were taking naps. It was different doing the whole thing online and I wish I could have done a traditional PhD with a cohort at a school. That would not have been possible to work at same time though. I made friends around the country and made it work for me.

Trust me, you will not be on equal footing with them
Meaning? Do they know more than you or because they haves "Harvard" on their CV they get promoted more readily?

I have had many straight A graduates from “better” colleges run at me for years many of whom currently work under me. Give me an average student who is street smart and hungry any day over some savant that does one thing well but otherwise can’t think himself out of a shite box.

Just finished bachelors at 43 last month. Can confirm. Everyone would rather just ask than read.
