In line with his intention of scaling back his businesses, Tuscaloosa developer Stan Pate is auctioning off more than 80 properties across Alabama and the Southeast on Friday. Hosted by Williams & Williams Real Estate Auctions (www.williamsauction.com/sales-portfolio/SEPortfolio), Pate said the auction is meant to rid himself of numerous properties and buildings that he sees as obstacles to pursuing future endeavors. “It gives you an opportunity to refocus,” Pate said of the sale. “It starts with reducing the number of pieces of real estate and other stuff that you’re having to deal with on a daily basis.” The auction begins at 10 a.m. at the Embassy Suites in downtown Tuscaloosa. Bidders can make offers in real time at the hotel or online via AuctionNetwork.com, said Fontana Fitzwilson, executive vice president of commercial real estate sales for Williams & Williams Real Estate Auctions. Fitzwilson said those wishing to purchase properties should be prepared to pay 10 percent of the highest bid and bring a valid driver’s license.

Even if this was OT news.. the auction was last Friday.

ETA: He wasn't auctioning off anything worth a damn anyway. The strip center at 15th/Hackberry is a decent property but the tenant profile is garbage and the largest tenant recently vacated.
