I don’t expect you to. After all, you’re just “joking around,” so it wasn’t necessarily directed at you.

I was just pointing out that MAGA’s tendency to call anyone who disagrees with them a “liberal” has stripped the word of any real meaning. It’s become a throwaway insult that sounds more like surrendering the argument than accusation.

The absurdity is that most of MAGA’s talking points (tariffs, a strong centralized government, massive federal deficits paired with deficit spending, government intervention in private business, etc...) were considered liberal positions for far longer than the last decade, when they became “based.” The shift didn’t come from principle, because [spoiler alert] it turns out they never had principles to begin with.

Culture “warriors” should understand this dynamic. They’ve spent the last two decades correctly pointing out that the left did the same thing with “racist.”

The playbook hasn’t changed, but the team running it has.
