Where do your parents live and where does your sister live? My mom visits my sister far more often than me but my mom lives in Florida, my sister lives in Alabama and I live in Washington state so it makes sense.

We live closer than my sister does

fricking victims...

Yes my daughter has autism and wants her grandparents to be there for her graduation like her older sister did and her younger cousins will. We are truly snowflakes. You got us.

Come on they are in their 70's you're really coming off as a Dick I'm 52 my parents are in their 80's and in bad health ( dad home Hospice) just think if ( God forbid) your mom passes this week. That this would be your last conversation that you had with her... that will haunt you forever

#1- Sympathies for your dad. That is rough. I am sorry. I get the sentiment too.

But my mom was roaming NOLA with my oldest and my dad last week at Pat O's drinking hurricanes and now this trip is too hard. I am convinced it is a convenience thing and some what an expense thing for them.

If my son told me there would be "consequences", I'd remind him without hesitation that I'm still the mom, and not a child going into time out. That was a pretty immature and disrespectful thing to say. If you act like that when you're with them, could it be the reason they aren't wanting to go?

Point taken. I really felt like crap saying that. It wasn't fun. I felt her plea... which has been going on for months was to find a way to get out of it for convenience and expense with health as an excuse. I can't reconcile that. I told her in the same conversation "If you said it was important, I would be there come hell or high water". My oldest nephew is autistic as well and lives in Denver. I asked if she was going to skip that as well because they will be even older then and it is further. She refused to comment. That pissed me off bad. Maybe I have pissed them off but I feel they are old and like what is convenient for them. That is fine for me but when you have a daughter than idolizes them and is going to ULL next Fall because of them, it hurts.

You are crazy. Your middle daughter wouldn't make it a big deal if you didn't.

I seriously doubt you would say that if you had a kid with autism. I think my maternal grandmother made my graduation. I didn't care then and don't know. Autistic kids, it's different

And yes, It's trashy to invite someone to a high school graduation, then hold it against them if they have more important or exciting things to do

They don't have anything else to do. They just don't want to be inconvenienced. That is what pisses me off. I have asked maybe 3 things in my life from them. including this. I know they did a lot for me, but damn...,just this. Our youngest graduates next May. I don't give a shite if they attend or not. She isn't autistic and can square that.
