it is definitely better at the infantry units for the time being. i'm far removed from that life these days though, and i see what the Marine Corps is like everywhere else. sadly i think it's only a matter of time before the line units go the same way - see Ben Wagner getting fired from battalion command as anecdotal evidence. the woke activists and the EO political commissars are infiltrating the units and filing complaint after complaint until they get what they want. it's depressing.

Truly, my biggest issue is with the journalists who look at these things with the clarity of 20 years of hindsight and act like the Marines and officers making decisions and acting on those decisions in real time were operating with the same level of clarity

Journalism has been infected by the same disease as the rest of society. Everything is presented as propaganda, they don't want truth either.

Jesus Christ says it’s in your best interest to be in town.

I was in that battle. One of the defining events of my life.

I’d be interested in hearing some stories if you’re willing to share… that goes for any of the other combat vets here

finished episodes 4 and 5 on my commutes yesterday and this morning. they interview General Olson, General Toolan, and General Conway. Olson sort of dorked his interview up by changing his story a little bit. I thought Toolan was pretty solid, and he did a good job of trying to contextualize some of the stuff. He definitely had no love for Duncan Hunter either. Conway didnt have much to say, he didnt remember much of the specifics which the a-hole hosts tried to make sound super Eeeevil. I seriously fricking hate these two hosts, especially Bowman.

they seem to give all the credit, leeway, and latitude in the world to the enlisted guys and spouses they interview and never question THEIR motives or perspectives at all, but they give none of the same grace to the officers. i understand this to a degree, but it's clear that these hosts just have no understanding of the culture of the Marine Corps, regardless of how many years they spent as journalists in the Pentagon.
