taking all the proper precautions and doing what they needed to do to remain safe, didn't make it through the day alive.
That storm left nothing but plumbing pipes sticking out of the foundation for the homes that were surrounding Forest Lake where Carson Tinkers GF died.
It was so bad over there they had to dredge the entire lake to get all the debris out.
To give people a sense of the scope of the outbreak, I had two different relatives with a tornado within a mile of their homes that day and it then proceeded to drop one within a mile of my house and we are all in different states.

I've been in coastal home design/engineering/construction for 15 years. With all of the more stringent construction practices employed over the last 10 years, I would feel completely safe in one of our homes in the direct path of a CAT 3 storm IF you could assure me there was no chance of even a small tornado. You obviously cant, and for that reason alone, I would be out.

Excellent video of the second by second formation to end of the tornado. It includes Houston-Wren.
I never knew the story of Lynn Davis. Picked up off of highway 45 and flung for 3000 yards. The farthest recorded distance a vehicle has been flung in a tornado. And that was before the intensifying into the Smithville one.
RIP Lynn.
