Dear Tulane Community:

With Hurricane Francine now out of our area, we have opened campus buildings today for faculty and staff who may need to check their spaces or facilities. The LBC, Commons, and HTML are all accessible. Faculty and staff can access their buildings via card access. Managers should communicate with their staff if their buildings are inaccessible.

We are deeply grateful for the dedication and expertise of so many staff members who worked around-the-clock to keep the Tulane community safe throughout this storm.

All work and classes today will continue to be remote as previously announced.

Additionally, we will return to onsite classes, work, and normal operations tomorrow, September 13. We continue to ask everyone to be flexible, as some community members are still facing challenges, such as a lack of electricity at their homes or flooding in their neighborhoods. Our community is built on mutual respect and understanding, and we ask for additional grace at this time.

We were able to visit with students and essential workers this morning who had breakfast in the Commons, and spirits are high as we made it through this storm and begin to return to normal. We will continue to communicate directly with students to provide them with updated information and resources.

Additional important notes:

Newcomb Children’s Center – The child care center will be closed again tomorrow as that building is waiting on Entergy for power restoration. Families will be contacted directly with more details.

Parking – Everyone parked in the Lasalle or Saratoga garages downtown have until 4 p.m. on Friday to exit without paying.

Lavin-Bernick Center (LBC) – The first floor of the LBC on the uptown campus is open for Tulane community members who need to charge devices or access the internet.

With deep gratitude, we thank the many members of our staff who are working tirelessly to make it safe for our return and the staff working remotely to support our on-the-ground essential personnel. Please share your appreciation with the team members you encounter working hard to restore our campuses and get us back to business as usual.

We also urge all supervisors to continue contacting their staff to confirm they are safe and to assess their needs as we continue working remotely to sustain and advance our operations.

Please continue to monitor your email for updates from the Office of Emergency Preparedness & Response, which will also be posted here, where you can find updates, resources, and other relevant information as we move forward.

Again, we extend our thanks to everyone who helped get us through this hurricane and look forward to seeing you back on campus tomorrow.
