They make cheaper cars with cheaper maintenance that last longer that drive very well these days. Luxury is not in a chokehold by 4 brands anymore IMO. You can get a pretty luxurious, reliable, and fun to drive Accord these days. BMWs can bite me. My fiance has one and the slightest maintenance is absurdly overpriced and little things go wrong with it all the time.
Please I do maintenance by the book plus some on my e46 m3. Compare parts prices from bavauto or bmp design and you will see prices compare favorably with most other manufacturers. My 60 K service with all fluids hoses valve adjustment belts lube, and to fix a few leaks was $1200 dollars. Minor services run around $300 or so. Not absurd for a car of any sort. The first fun Accord has not yet been and probably never will be built. No comparison.

jordan21210 Thinking about buying a 335i today, any owners on the board? I love the current AMG cars, but I much rather the older ones where the "63" nomenclature was accurate. That 6.2 V8 is my favorite V8 ever. ETA: I may be wrong upon further investigation...they still make the 6.2? Thought they switched to a smaller twin turbo V8...
Love the AMG cars but the costs are high out of warranty, different concept than the M Series. More like an European hot rod. Nice machines. The straight six BMW motor is inherently smooth and torquey, I've driven one 300k sold to a friend who has put 100k more on it. The turbo motors are nice just I haven't had one. Don't ever go K and N or any wet air filter, your mass flow sensor will pick up some oil and throw a code. Weak links traditionally are the plastic hose attachment on the radiators which will give way, some electrical switches which are cheap to replace, SMG tranny is horrid, other than that mine have just rolled and rolled on. Never have replaced any pumps, compressors, or the first alternator. Oh yes Harman Kardon is awful upgrade to BSW speakers for much improved sound. I've owned 1983 320i a 1999 323i a 2003 530i a 2008 528i and a 2002 M3 cabriolet. Love them all. Some I drove and drive, others for wife or kids. The turbo motors can be made to make an additional 40 to 60 horsepower with a harness interconnect that installs in 30 minutes at most, and remaps fuel, boost timing, and has safety features that limit it all if things get out of hand.

BMW's interior, resembling an old volvo, is just too outdated and ugly for me.
