Just got through reading this...
The problem with cab industry is that the rules that are there to deal with all the issues that have been brought up AREN'T enforced by the companies or by the city. By law, cars must be clean, have working AC and working CC machines, etc. Companies rarely enforce their own policies against these drivers, and city regulators (understaffed) even less.
Does customer frustration lead them to take it out on drivers, leading to them wasting their time? Yes, but most of the drivers have richly earned their reputations by dumping runs "not worth their time" such as laundry or grocery store runs, claiming CC is inop to avoid paying company processing fee (usu. 5%), taking long way to destinations and generally being assholes. This dickjones guy is a disgrace to decent cabdrivers.
And for the record, I've been a cabdriver in four cities over six years (Shreveport, Denver, Louisville and Dallas)...I usually leased from the company but owned this in Louisville...no vomit comet here LOL (and yes those are Mustang GT Premium wheels!)
I hope Uber works...taxi companies can start giving a damn about their pax or else.

You sound like one of the good ones and I appreciate it so much that if I ever end up in your cab I won't puke in it!
For real though, based on what you wrote if more cabbies were like you Uber probably wouldn't be taking over the way it is!

Like a year after I moved to L.A. I had 8 black people working for me, out of 23 employees, and I took them all out to a very nice steakhousefor our x-mas party. When ALL 8 of them ordered $50 steaks well done I could not believe it, it blew my mind!

Ok. When you call them to order delivery they go off estimate wait time given by cpu. That time is determined on how long it should take to make the pizza, how far from the store you are, and how long it should take a driver. It sees driver out on a run if they are. Well lets just say that the asshat that ordered the pizza before you gave wrong address or apt #. Now that driver will have to take extra time to call you and get correct address. Time est on pizza cpu now wrong from what you was told. Now driver gets correct address and its on the other side of delivery zone. Time est getting more and more off. Driver gets there and cust left because buddy showed up and he left with him. Driver then calls back to see what's up. Time est getting off more and more. Cust who ordered pizza looks at phone knows its not the driver and decides not to answer at all. Est off more and more. Now driver has to go back to shop and get your pizza and deliver it to you. By this time you are pissed and blaming the pizza place saying you took to long and you want free pizza. Was that really the pizza places fault for going to the original address. The wrong address at that. No it wasn't. Is it the drivers fault for trying. No but you get mad at him too. Now if that guy wouldn't caused them so many problems do you think you would have gotten your pizza faster?
As someone who has delivered pizza for 3 years, I can say that unreal amounts of bullshite are frothing from your mouth.
ETA: I actually feel kinda bad for this dude. It's him vs. 10,361 people and I decided to become 10,362. Guess that's what happens when someone is so wrong about so much.

See this is why I love TD. so many professions & opinions. We got pizza delivery posters, cabbies, lawyers, doctors, engineers, fast food workers, students, retired, military. You name it.

I felt bad for him at first because he is losing his career and that is a scary thing but he is so annoying that I stopped feeling bad for him after reading a few posts.

Thanks LOL...haven't had that one for a while, about to reacquire my CDL and go back out on the road.
When I drove for that company they had a sign in the DMs office with the rules from back in the day...open doors for pax, keeping car clean, politeness etc...it's sad what's happened to the industry. Nationwide, cabs have lost a lot of package delivery/courier runs too b/c drivers turned up their noses at the small-medium runs and/or didn't want to lose the processing surcharge. Me, I'd rather have 95% of $20 than 100% of $0.

I still torn if this is a troll or just one man and a dream. It would undoubtedly be the best most elaborate troll in TD history. I kinda wish it was otherwise this guy can't possibly have an IQ over 90.

Exactly! I really do hope things work out for you, you seem like a good guy who is the polar opposite of the OP!

Uber seems to really be adding drivers/ coverage. Yesterday there were cars available as early as 3:00pm and I just checked at 5:54 am and there was a car available.

Half the cabs we used in Vegas didn't have their CC machines working either.
$55 from airport to strip in a towncar...worth it.

You can easily get a limo for that price or cheaper, just an FYI for next time.
