ICE is not professional army
Why did you think it was?
Trump wouldn't need to declare a national emergency to employ ICE to round up illegals, that's their job. But he would to be able to use the Guard, or other "military assets" to do so.

I'm really not well-informed about all that. Like I said, it's not my problem (I have enough on my plate). Just relating a conversation I had. Much more interesting to me was the long talks I had in Montenegro with an older gentleman about the Yugoslavian war in the early nineties. HInt: he was no fan of America. The Balkans are fascinating to me. The next time we go, we'll spend more time in Bosnia and explore Albania in more depth.

We didn't go to Skopje
In Greece the entire country is referred to as Skopje rather than that bogus North Macedonia bullshite. Sorry for any confusion.
We went to Belgrade in 2019 and I expected at least a little hostility but everyone we met was cool with talking to some Americans. I was a little surprised. Perhaps being Orthodox Christians of Greek descent helped a little.

A buddy of mine took his boat down the Danube to Romania a couple of summers ago. He said the Serbs partied like no one else in Europe. Most of the young people speak English and aren't hostile toward Americans.
