One of my regrets in life deals with this. I was going to a managers meeting in Boston. The cab driver started talking and he said enough that I knew he had just delivered one of my buddies to the hotel I was going to. He looked at me in the rear view mirror and said, "you're not ********, (my nickname) are you? I laughed and said yes and then he repeated all the stories my buddy had told about me. He then asked me if I would like to go out to the bars with him and his buddies. Now this is a genuine, sterotypical full bloodied Boston cabbie. I said "naw, I gotta get to bed."

My husband and I struck up a conversation with an old man when we were taking a ferry from wales to Ireland.
I think the conversation lasted about 6 hours

One of the more interesting for me was in the dining car on the City of New Orleans from Chicago to Memphis. Had dinner with a couple from Australia. Owners of a furniture manufacturing company, they were touring the U.S. for a month by rail. Very interesting couple. Love those random encounters.

Talked with John Hemphill(actor from Schitts creek) on a flight from Orlando to Atlanta. Didn’t know who he was until later in the flight, but the conversation started with the largeness of out stewardess and her inability to perform her job duties to the obtuseness of movie stars (which is how I found out who he was).
