Rep. Steve Scalise has been readmitted to the Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, the hospital said Wednesday night (July 5).

There are "new concerns for infection," a hospital statement said, and Scalise's condition was listed as serious. The hospital did not elaborate on the infection concerns.

The statement said the hospital will provide another update on Thursday.

infections caught from the hospital are no fricking joke. Ive known 2 people who have died post op because of "super bug" infections they caught from the hospital. Prays for him and his family.

When internal organs are torn up, especially the large intestine, the potential for sepsis is extremely high. Prayers.

Yep. Not uncommon for the patient to seem out of the woods and then have it arise days after the injury occurred either.
