Had one break on my 16 ft door. Cost me $225.00 to replace the spring. I wouldn't touch it myself. It can kill yo arse.

I replaced 2 on my garage last year. Not as bad as people make it seem. Just take your time and be careful. It's not that bad.

I've been told repeatedly that this is not hard if you know what you are doing and dangerous if you don't. I've never seen it done so I will wait

Buddy of mine a few months back detached his bicep and tore open his forearm while changing the spring on his garage door. He watched a YouTube video too. He is very sound at repair work and is not normally an idiot. shite happens. Call a pro.
