You know in Arkansas this is a much simpler process:

Grandchildren are forced to spoon with their grandparents.

way to warn him in all caps that cleaning it would lower the value and then include a link saying his spoon is worth less than $10

That's cool actually. Great keepsake.

I think so too. These little spoons survived Katrina (and Betsy and Camille). So as far as little souvenir keepsakes, they are cute and inexpensive. They also small and not easily broken or ruined by a hurricane or by a child. This one was my great grandmother's and it is 91 years old, from the British Empire Exhibition 1924 LINK

ETA: I have no idea why the pics are so big. Some may say my posts are too long and judge them as TL;DR. Well, here is a giant spoon picture. If the pic is too big for you then it is acceptable for you to post TB;DL (Too Big; Didn't Look)

Below is Pope John Paul on a spoon to commemorate his visit to New Orleans.

These spoons tell a story of the events and places in my grandmother's life. She traveled a lot.

I have a step-granddaughter that I will be homeschooling. I think she will love the spoons just as I did as a kid. There is history and geography to be learned with these spoons. There are stories to be told.

Most likely, there will be more spoons to be collect as a souvenir of the places we will go together. Maybe one day she will use her spoons to tell her daughter about the stories and memories the spoons represent.

The spoon's monetary value is not important at all. They are not a financial investment. They have a value that can't be measured.
