I picked up a replacement mirror at Certifit yesterday for my truck. Everything matches up and looks good but the power wire on the replacement mirror has 5 wires while the connection in truck has 6. Has anyone ever had any experience with this? Will the mirror work? I am going to work on it this evening and was just curious to know if I need to return the replacement.

Sidenote: my buddy who is a mechanic looked at it yesterday and bought the matter with the wires to my attention. I should have said lets try it out anyway but didn't. I didn't want to second guess him.

Does your vehicle have signal lights on the mirrors? That extra wire may be for that but the new mirror doesn't have a signal light. Just a guess.

nope ... no signals in mirror ... no puddle light either. I wish I had just attempted to hook the thing up when I had it all broken down.

I was thinking turn signal or light as well...but since the truck doesn't have that...could it be mirror defroster? Did the original have a defrost symbol on the mirror face?
