Just get a book tha teaches you how to code and go from there. Once you understand it is literally a language that the computer speaks, it is rather intuitive.

From a boot camp? That's absolute bullshite. Unless one employer is just hiring everyone at $90k for some ungodly irresponsible reason.

CIO told him to get his degree in CS as guys who only have a cert will not move up to higher level positions over a guy with a degree. He also said CS is better because you will have a greater understanding of the bigger picture in tech.

While that's true in a vacuum, if your kid is smart, it won't matter. Yes the theory is important but he's not going to be held back without a degree is he's sharp. I'm in the industry, I work with tech companies, this is the case.

Computer science at LSU is no joke. Might be much easier at SU though.

I'd start with something simple like matlab.

Learn regression analysis with taylor seres expansions.

With this, you'll begin to understand 'while' & 'for' loops.

You can also mess with this in excel, though it's a little less friendly.

But first, what kind of coding are you trying to get into? HTML coding, software coding, algorithm coding?
