Could be from a number of different things. Unsupportive families throwing kids out, spouses leaving them and a combination of some losing their job. My wife is the LGBTQ club sponsor at her school. I personally know of two trans kids who were thrown out of their homes by their parents when they came out. Incredibly sad situation.

A shelter creates an environment where they feel safe from sexual and physical assault, considering how many of them can be vulnerable.

There are times that I don’t feel completely safe in public, I can only imagine trying to live on the street and survive as trans.
