:stopbeingafatpussy: ok now that's out of the way
I did this and I haven't had issues with shin splints since. Never had any issues and then one day I "upgraded" my running shoes to new balance with the expensive, fancy insole. Within the week the shin splints started. I asked my podiatrist friend about the splints. He put me on to brooks with support that was better suited for my foot. Simple fix for me. Might not be so simple for you. Good luck because shin splints fricking suck.

Don't just get new shoes, have a fitting and assessment done by someone qualified to do so. I, like you, encountered shin splints in my 30's. Turned out one of my arches had fallen significantly. Showed up in a fitting and inserts were needed. Shin splints went away though it took some time as I had developed stress fractures. Stretching is also very important. You're getting old, you can't get away with things like that.

Without rest they will not go away. After you heal you should add some jumpnroping to your routine (or foot marching with marginal weight)

its your shoes....you are either over pronating or under pronating...put your feet on one of those fancy machines at the shoe store and get the recommended arch/shoe style for you...if you have flat arse feet and are wearing some Nike Shocks from 4 years ago, you are doing it to yourself...

I got them really bad my senior year of HS. Our basketball court was a shitty tile one with no flex. The trainers would tape my heels up tight before the game and at halftime. Ice after the games. Unfortunately I've had problems ever since.
For me good shoes and compression sleeves work.

I'm also 33 and have to limit my running bc of shin splints. I tried the compression socks for the first time this week and noticed a difference.
