I've got the Saddleback Classic briefcase, and although I love it, I wish I could downsize to their thin briefcase.

It's a great briefcase. Comes with a lifetime guarantee and is very high quality. With the discount (which looks like it ends tonight), it's only $50 over budget. I think it's worth it for something that will last.

Tumi or B&R if you travel. The pockets make the worth it.

ETA: why all the down votes for Tumi?

I'll say this - the saddleback is a bold briefcase. I don't necessarily mean that that in a good or bad way, but it isn't quite as low-key as the Hulme or other higher-end briefcases.

It is something to note when you're making the purchase. If you're looking to make a statement, the saddleback will do it, but it is fairly 'loud.' That can be a good thing in some settings and/or with some personalities, but with others it is too overwhelming.

Because there are higher quality briefcases for the same prices or less. Tumi to me says you're trying too hard. At that rate, why not just get a Louis Vuitton briefcase and call it a day?

Dumb question but are there any stores that carry Saddleback and Hulme on site? In New Orleans if that helps.

I won't argue that Tumi isn't recognizable but to equate to something literally branded on every inch is comical.

Tumi is very well made but I would never buy anything of theirs that wasn't the alpha ballistic material.

I struggled between the Filson and saddleback. Went with the Filson and very happy with it.

It is breaking in nicely and will last the rest of my work career.

I am not OT baller enough for saddleback or col Littleton.

I don't believe Saddleback has any brick and mortar retailers in LA and Hulme doesn't list any in the state on their site.
