Test with another wand. I had that happen with a Craftsman (15 years old) and a new wand resolved the issue.

Sounds to me like it is pumping enough volume, for some reason. There is not some screen stopped up somewhere is there?

I was going to say this. Mine would do this (lose pressure) when I had some grass on the screen at the hose interface. Cleaned it off and worked fine after that.

Yep!
I fixed it Saturday. It was 2 check valves in the pump that were stuck open and not allowing enough water in.
