My company is shipping half assembled machines to my customer that I have to assemble on site because our production line is so backed up from shortages and my customer buys millions of dollars of machines every year and needs them delivered by end of year. Last 2 Christmases/New Years have sucked to come back from due to the sheer volume of extra work outside of my service contract for this company.
My cubicle is next to one of the industrial suppliers cubes and his job sounds worse than mine.

The unit I work in is running really well right now, but we live in constant fear of shutting down over simple stuff like bag filters and sample jars. How do you expect a chemical plant to run without sample jars? Purchasing doesn't care. Their vendor or nothing. Individual units now have to buy their own jars on credit cards, while their "preferred vendor" sit there as says they can't get glass. Credit card and phone call to a different vendor, jars here next day.

Subcontractor for the big tract home builders. Can't get tile/lvp/vinyl/carpet/pad. Our vendors can't get raw materials, then plants have labor issues, then transportation can't get it to us, etc. Meanwhile they're selling homes faster than they can build them, so WE are the problem.
