Case in point, my buddy needed a starter for a Tundra. Dealer $1200. I referred him to my indy, $7xx.
I agree about an indy, however I looked up the price for a starter for a 2012 tundra and it was $263.00. I assume it is a similar install to the one on my z71 and that is 2 bolts and 2 wire connectors. Took about 15 minutes to swap out and that included jacking truck up. I can buy a lot of beer for $400.

It is not just about changing your oil or wasting an hour. It is about learning to check your brakes, belts, cv boots, hoses, suspension and battery.
It is about learning your car versus getting a pole up your butt when some shop tells you that you need a $900.00 brake job. Not knowing your vehicle is how people walk in for an oil change and walk out 2,000 dollars poorer.
