Horse. fricking. shite.
A major point of being a dad is for you to do everything in your fricking power to ensure the success of your child. My daughter's 21, has closer to a 3.9 than a 3.8, got her LSAT scores last week, which tell us she can go to law school pretty well anywhere we can afford, and a frick load of places we can't, and I've "helped" her with plenty of stuff like what this dude posted about/looking for a tutor for his son.
I don't care HOW OLD my daughter is......she needs to know one thing ALWAYS REMAINS, no matter her age or circumstances, and that's this. If she needs something, or if she's hurt, whatever it is that's bothering her..... She calls me first. I'll get it, or I'll fix it, or I'll do whatever I can do to get between her and pain, trouble, or anything troubling.
In return, she takes care of her end of the things. She's expected to study and apply herself fully, make wise choices in the allocation of her time, in the company she keeps, in the places she goes, and in the actions taken at those places, as NOT doing that could potentially put her in a position where I COULD NOT get between her and trouble.
That dad may be wrong in looking for a tutor here - that I'll grant you. But NOT because, what did you say, "the parent is not helping?". It's because he's looking for a chemistry tutor in a room full of smartasses.
Edit: Get the frick off my lawn, ya bastard w/no loving parents that thinks you got a sweet deal getting thrown into that orphanage and had to join the Army to go to college ya.
