I have got to say that this was a fun job. Just going into the Chicago Sears classic skyscraper in the early 1980s and knocking on tenets doors and asking them if we could film what they were doing at that moment, was surprisingly interesting. Most people's jobs were interesting and people seemed involved. The jobs were probably more interesting then than they are today if I had the same responsibility to knock on people's doors in any skyscraper in America. I was making this documentary for the Building Systems Division of United Technologies Corporation when "smart buildings" were new and exciting.

I've been working in a building just like that for 20+ years. It's becoming less and less functionaly necessary.

Makes me wonder about older businesses from back in that era… like united companies that developed the office complex off of Essen. They at one time owned the entire park but now to my knowledge either no longer exist or at least are a shell of what they were.

People had to go into an office to access files and other systems tgat were essential for their job. Now with the cloud and MFA I can do everything that I need from home. On the flip side, I'm also always at work vs. leaving the office and being unavailable until showing back up the next day.

I’m pretty damn tired of late texts at 7:30pm and emails back on Sat afternoon asking if I saw the email Friday at 6pm, and this is for shite that doesn’t fricking matter in the grand scheme of things. I don’t know the future honestly.

But I do know, when you only had an office phone and you werent at the office your were OFF. It jealous of that almost every weekend.
