I got to meet a few NYFD guys not long after 9/11. They brought our entire crew shirts and patches. Every single one of them had lost people they knew that day. It's amazing how many were directly impacted.

I also had a Marine buddy that I used to do shots with at one of the bars near base. I partied it up with him the week before 9/11 because he was about to ETS. I saw him a couple of weeks later and thought he had processed out and gone home. He told me that the Marines told him that he had been extended "indefinitely". I'm not sure what ever happened to that poor bastard.

It was a strange time to be in the military... a lot of things changed that day.
