Wrong. Can you not read? I posted the bible quote and it clearly says women can't speak in church. How you think they gonna hold a position like preacher if they can't speak church? Funny how you pick and choose what to follow, but the bible is all gods word. You think they had school back thousands of years ago in those primitive times? The bible is pretty clear that women should only be educated by they husbands from within their home. Again, direct bible quote and remember the bible is gods word. In fact, you need to get your husband on here to defend yourself bc clearly the bible and god for that matter, doesn't think you should do anything without your husband leading the way.

You are angry, unhinged and disrespectful as all get out. It is obvious you aren't looking for discussion but to attack people who believe differently than you.

So speaking the facts of the bible makes me unhinged? The bible is pretty clear on these things and its incestual history. Sorry you blindly following this religion without ever reading the bible. How else is adam and eve suppose to populate the earth without having they kids incest with each other? How else is Noahs family supposed to repopulate the earth without incesting with each other? I didn't come up with these rules, your holy book the bible did, which is gods word. Don't you remember? Again since you a woman, you need to get your husband on here let us men handle thangs, since the bible is pretty clear on that.too.

Since all religions have contradictory elements, it’s clearly not necessary for a religion to be true to proliferate through a population.
Fair point.

quote:

God instead impregnating a woman so he could have a son and let him be killed as a sacrifice to himself to appease himself so he could forgive everyone was definitely the only way to go.

This part is heavily debated, but ok.

quote:

Doesn’t sound at all like an ancient myth.

Well it is one of, if not the main archetypes in all of literature. But why? Maybe it's reality.

quote:

The influence of culture over religion is strong and undeniable but no one thinks that they themselves are deluded - but clearly most are.

I think we are seeing less and less of this recently. I for one essentially left Christianity altogether for a few years. When I regrouped as an adult I chose a different denomination. Many people "deconstruct" and many of those people reconstruct, while some leave the faith for good.

Right or wrong, my belief (or lack of belief) is my own and based on quite a bit of travel around the world to see it all for myself.

Knowing the context of the original message reveals that Paul was talking to a specific group of women in Corinth. It is widely accepted through proper interpretation that what he said there is not a timeless truth, but a correction for a specific place and time.

You may think that way because you swim in Christian waters. The best of societies before the Christian revolution were brutal and grotesque, structured around power, not love.
Jesus changed that.
It’s quite astonishing.

I ain't sure this is true at all...society is still controlled by power and not love, even in the US.
