That's fine. But if we're talking prison and not death, 18yrs is a good long time. Nothing magical happens at 22 yrs or 35 yrs or 40yrs.

Maybe, maybe not. Anyone capable of doing this is 1 step away from physically abusing a child. Keeping him in jail for the longer is better.
