It is, and is why I keep pounding the drum about there not being a singular "black community." Especially in 2016.

Problem is even many black people refer to ourselves as such, so the misnomer is ingrained

You are right and I'll add another on to this, black culture. I've heard that from black people. On every occasion that this has happened my immediate thought was if we all want to be equal why would we want to separate ourselves from everyone else??

If blacks believe in education so deeply, then why are the majority-black schools underperforming so badly?

We do value education, but honestly black young men in poor areas have been condition to believe that the only way out is through sports or entertainment. Which half of that stems from negative images and message that poisons our culture, and the other half comes from just a loop of systemic racism. (Before you call bullshite, understand that the Civil Rights Movement ended just 52 years ago.....52).

Saying blacks just flat out don't care about education isn't true. Just look at the statistic of black females, which is now the largest educated demographic in this country now.

I for one, can't speak on the Texas school systems.

I can tell you first hand that it's much worse down here than you may believe.

You don't see how lumping the "black community" together as one monolithic entity is a bad thing?

Well of course it can be a bad thing, but these of the harsh facts of life. Black ppl get clumped in together all the time. Example, "Oh you speak so well"

"Hey man you know a lot more than I thought you did"

I've been hit with comments like these all my life. Along with friends of mines. From people who don't know us from Joe Blow. There is a general negative connotation about black people that no matter how much I separate myself for the side you guys may see as "bad", it'll always be there.

Also blk ppl whom which y'all may see as "good" understand the trials and tribulations of the side that's bad, but that doesn't give room for white people to result to racial slurs or bigoted remarks because they don't understand. It's just uncalled for, and sterotypically southern. Which I would hope we're all better than that.

Find me a website were well off black people blame whites who live in trailer homes for Americas woes, while using bigoted remarkes while they're at it. That narrative just doesn't exist in the black community.

I don't believe you. I think what you meant was -- You've seen examples of these corny, canned "racially-charged" comments on American TV over and over again the last several decades. Because of your inability to use reasoning skills and common sense, while also not operating under an obvious bias, you then decided to apply these generalizations and silly, not-real-life examples of "white folk talk" to describe your most likely unsuccessful and unfulfilling life. And finally, you then used this thread as an opportunity to argue your retarded points, while also attempting to generate sympathy from a bunch of white folks on a message board. Pretty sure i covered it all there. Forgive me if i left anything out.

There is a general negative connotation about black people

Regular, law-abiding folks, whatever color their freaking skin may be, tend to respond negatively when a fairly large percentage of the population aren't carrying their weight. Generation after generation of poorly raised children continue to grow up to be uneducated, bad parents who rely on the government to keep them alive. Granted, basically every stat you can find shows that things are getting better for black folks in America, albeit slowly. It should be happening quicker.

And white people denying the proliferation of racist, condescending "positive" ("She's one of the good ones," or "You speak so well") comments towards black people takes the fricking cake.

Get the frick outta here.

Lmao, so your entire counter to what I said is based on you "believing me" lol. Typical.....

I've gotten the " speak so well" line twice at my current job. No reason to make it up.

Has there ever been non-corrupt all-black School Board?

www.google.com/search?q=school+board+corruption&client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us&biw=360&bih=518&prmd=niv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiKr9_d7rHOAhUPz2MKHcpPB70Q_AUICCgC&dpr=4

Inner city kids have no chance while their NAACP brothers and sisters line their own pockets after they get elected to the school board because of their skin color.

Because humans, by their very nature, are tribal. We tend to gravitate towards those who have our same interests, education level, skin color, etc. There really is no great mystery behind this. It is just the way of the world.
