While I haven't thought about this topic for more than about 10 minutes, I'm guessing that it will be possible in the near future to upload various songs into a software program, which will then create a new song of similar quality. It could be either a combination of various artists within a genre (similar to Sirius/XM channels) or a single artist/band.

My initial reaction is that this wouldn't be 'real' music and I could not embrace it. On the other hand, uploading all of the songs in Zeppelin's first five or so albums (through Houses of the Holy) to create an original song with Plant's vocals, Page's guitar riffs, and Bonham's drums could be a beautiful thing if done right.

Over time as the program improves, it could produce music much better than humans. Not sure how I feel about that so thought I'd consult with the wise OT.

That sounds cool and all but currently all computer scientists are in silicon valley trying to come up with the next big social networking/dating/media-sharing killer app.
