I have heard the doc martins are the most comfortable, but I don’t see them in laceups.

It looks like they cut way down from what they were selling a couple years ago. I still have the Ironbridge they used to make and they are great.

Red Wing 4216s are the most comfortable pair of boots I've had though.

I had a pair of Doc Marten steel toes that were comfortable as hell.

The extra height was a bit disconcerting and unwanted, I'm not short in the least, but they were easily the most comfortable boots I have worn. I usually wear Red Wings.

*If you don't wear them often the Red Wings may take a while to break in.

Same work situation - but, I need chem resistant and waterproof (and can get away with slip-ons because fudge the HSE folks). My go-to are Merrell Strongfields. If the comfort level is any indication, their lace ups would be great.

I settled on a pair of timberland Pro. They are a little heavy, but very comfortable. And as one poster put it…they’ll look good with my starched blue jeans!

Thanks to everyone that replied.

Keen makes some comfortable steel toe tennis shoes if that’s an option.
