For some reason I'm reminded of the scene in "A Few Good Men".

Nicholson: You want answers?
Cruise: I WANT THE TRUTH!!!
Nicholson: You can't handle the truth!!!

I can just see them talking to investigators.

PD: The reason your son was shot is he was fighting a police officer for his gun, assaulted the officer then charged at him.

PARENTS: Yeah, we know all that, but why was he shot. He wasn't doin' nothin'.

PD: Well, as we just said, he was beating up a cop and grabbing for his gun, then went after the cop a 2nd time.

PARENTS: OK, but that don't mean he could just shoot him. Our boy was good deep down. He didn't mean nothin'. Ain't no reason for him being shot in the street like that. He wasn't doin' nothin'.

PD: (speechless, double face-palm)
