A man was arrested Tuesday morning after leading law enforcement officers on a low-speed chase while driving a stolen tractor through Acadiana, according to a release from the Vermillion Parish Sheriff's Office.

Mark Ardoin, 47, was booked into the Lafayette Parish jail on charges of felony theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated flight of a police officer.

According to Vermillion Parish Sheriff Eddie Langlinais, Ardoin allegedly stole a tractor in the Youngsville area.

A Maurice police officer attempted to pull Ardoin over, but the suspect tried to ram the patrol car off the road and fled, Langlinais said in a press release.

Deputies arrived on scene and made several attempts at stopping the tractor until Ardoin crossed the line into Lafayette Parish, the release said.

Spike strips were eventually deployed and the tractor stopped at the intersection of Ambassador Caffery and South Morgan Avenue in Broussard.

Louisiana State Police, Youngsville police and Boussard police were all involved in the chase and arrest, Langlinais said.
