I had to take 6th grade 3x. The struggle was real, but I kicked arse on the football team.

Mine was more than ready. The down side to holding him back that year was he was already reading at a 1st grade level, could do basic addition and was teaching himself division. Kindergarten was a total snooze fest for him and he remained boated all the way until he was able to take dual credit classes his sophomore year in high school.

Pros and cons to whichever way you go.

No
it’s ok if I’m wrong - I just remember you talking about the album and for some weird reason my older kids had listened to that album earlier in the day and I was like wtf

Didn’t you say you were arrested/went to jail around the World’s Fair? Not saying you couldn’t be a teenager then, and maybe it wasn’t you.

quote:

Never a fan. I don't remember that. Maybe you were somebody else at the time.
I’ve never been anyone else - we were talking about music - and also Lynyrd Skynyrd. I had said something to the effect that my parents made us listen to 60s music growing up and I didn’t know who Neil Young was

I asked my mom if she knew who he was and she said no, and then you said something about sweet home Alabama, etc

It was around the time Young pulled his music off some platform - maybe spotify?? If I wasn’t lazy I’d find the thread

Yep. pro's and con's for sure.

for my son, it was mostly a maturity thing. He wasn't ready/able to focus like he would need to- but he is a very smart kid as well. In our school district, if a student has an A average and has not missed more than 3 days in the semester, the student is exempt from taking finals. The boy has NEVER taken a final in high school thus far.

I worry about college for him. He's never had to study and in all likelihood, does not know how.

Meh. I had a real DMV license with a fake birthdate. I’d been drunken sober by penny pitchers by the time I was 21.

I entered kindergarten at 4 and graduated at 17. I turned 13 my freshman year and 15 my sophomore year. I was the last to drive and the last to date although my mom had to finally give in and let me date at 15 bc otherwise I would be left out of everything since all my friends were dating. I was 17 for months in college. It really, really sucked.
totally feel your pain

I was born November of 1980, graduated high school in May of 1998. (UNO class of 2003, lsu grad school class of 2007 - just ftr)
