Nope but I wish. I didn't know anything about gymnastics growing up. None of my friends did it and there wasn't anything nearby. I played other sports

It seems to be growing in popularity. My daughter took gymnastics for a couple years. She liked it but her schedule gotctovbee too much between that, dance (twice a week) cheering in the fall and softball in the Spring. We gave her a choice of what to drop and she chose gymnastics.

That's a lot to handle when you're young. My parents really emphasized my education more than anything so they didn't necessarily discourage sports but they definitely didn't encourage them.

Yep. My parents say that every little girl in their/our neighborhood is in gymnastics. It's a far cry from how it used to be.

As long as she stays on AB honor roll we give her a lot of leeway on sports and other things like dance, gymnastics, cheer and pageants. For one thing she is 8 so she's only now getting to an age where she's starting to figure out what she is passionate about.

So we let her at least try whatever she wants. We don't really push her in any direction on these things because we want her to figure out what she likes herself. The only rule along these lines I gave her is if she signs up and joins a team, she will stick to her commitment at least until that season is over.

If at the end of the season or whatever she doesn't like it, then we are done. My main goal is I don't want her to get older and look back on her childhood and regret not trying something.

Good.

I wish I would've tried a lot more. I don't necessarily have regrets because I didn't become something; I regret not experiencing it.

Bingo. Bless my little princess's heart. I love her with every fiber of my being. But unless she just really blossoms after she hits puberty, there is zero chance she'll become any sort of star when it comes to sports. She's girly to the 19th degree but seems to have not one athletic bone in her body. sjes more the sweet, innocent, artistic, animal loving diva type.

Awww

That's actually the main reason why I regret not taking up more sports. I'm fairly athletic with good genes. I don't have great upper body strength, and that's my only real crutch.
