considerably less sick and vacation leave working from home
Isn't this good for productivity though.....less absenteeism? That's something that I think gets overlooked. If you can work from home, or at least work a home/office hybrid schedule, you might not need to take leave to handle things like the electrician or plumber showing up, your kid being home sick from school, etc. That's possibly the biggest thing that TPEA (organization that represents state employees in Texas) is trying to get Governor Abbott to realize, but he doesn't seem to be listening.

LSU is a state agency so I would lean to say yes. I would hope it will be addressed at some point in the near future
The executive order only applies to executive branch agencies. However, it also has language to encourage other agencies such as universities to follow suit. Most agencies outside of the executive branch typically adopt executive orders anyway.

Under LASERS, unused sick and annual leave gets converted to retirement credit. For example, let’s say you’ve accumulated 260 unused sick days, then that’s one year of extra retirement credit
The other option is to have the unused leave paid as a lump sump payment as a reduced actuarial value, which most retirees opt to do.

State employees are not entitled to telework. It’s a benefit that most agency use and highlight when recruiting.
Lot of good that will do now

The main problem with government workers working from home is they use considerably less sick and vacation leave working from home, and all that accumulated leave time becomes retirement credit.
This is always a very polarizing subject here, but we're talking about STATE WORKERS. And while some of you and much stress on the word some - are capable of working as or more efficiently remotely, I can assure you most state workers are not. If you think they work inefficiently at the office you can multiply that by several if they are unsupervised working remotely.
So, I'm fine with the policy, but I've come to learn from all of Landry's actions they are about wanting to look tough and are attention seeking and self serving.

That’s why you’ll never be in charge
