ESA is much more Iberia and St Martin Parish than Lafayette Parish now
I coached there for five years and during that time (1998-2002) the kids changed dramatically for the better. There was always 10-15% of the enrollment that were there for the freedoms and not for the education. That group was basically "weed"ed out by some drug scandals and never really came back. I am not saying ESA doesnt have drugs, it does, but it is far different from STM or the public schools. It is just too hard to keep a secret at ESA and for the most part, those kids have too much to lose by getting kicked out
Greenbriar and The Settlement were the spot back in the 80s and Fernwood in the 90s, but now there are so many elite neighborhoods all over the place it isnt like it used to be.

And I don't know what your perspective is on the so-called "elite" neighborhoods, but the mentality is very different now than it was in the 70's and 80's.

I mentioned that to a friend the other day. I couldn't believe nothing had been built there yet. It's probably owned by <insert rich name from lafayette here> that doesn't even need the money.

yeah I asked my wife last night: "who in Lafayette is going to pay retail prices for t-shirts and oxfords at J.Crew?"

She made the point that Banana Republic in the Mall is so expensive that people shop there but don't buy much. But they have the best sales in the Mall and that is when they make their quotas.
I hope they make it like the big walking Mall in Destin, that is really nice. Daigle said there would be 1000 homesites and apartment units

I think it will be mostly apts, condos, and townhouses with a few homes.

the next big thing in Laffy after Daigle's development on Caffery will be the Huval/Chiassion family property on what will be the Caffery extension to Hwy90. They own HUNDREDS of acres that will have frontage on the new road

one week after I die

seriously the most dangerous road in lafayette is heading towards the mall on verot school during the summer time from 5-7pm because the sun is literally shining directly in your eyes and there is always some MFer trying to turn left onto a sidestreet across bumper to bumper oncoming traffic

You and me both!
They could at least put some street lights along side it so it isn't so damn dark at night.
And when they ever do four lane it I hope they go all the way to the four way stop @ hwy 92 with it, but you just know they won't.

They would actually convince kids to waste their money on going to private colleges that weren't even as good as the public institutions.
God forbid that they encourage you to consider schools outside of Baton Rouge. Granted I'm at LSU but I looked elsewhere before I decided that LSU was the place for me.

Don't hold your breath. If it does not get pushed back, it is scheduled to happen in 2029.

I know. But it's a state road, not a city road. There was an effort to do a road swap with the state, but I don't know what happened. They need to four-lane everything in that area: E. Broussard road from Johnston to Milton, Verot, K.S., which are by far the most heavily burdened country roads in the city-parish.

I think Verot is a state road as well and that's a big part of the hold up.

the four lane of Willow St is nice though
