From what I've seen Vietnam was almost totally ignored by movies and TV (aside from news).
About 20 years ago I watched a bunch of Hawaii Five-0 episodes. One of the things that struck me was that several episodes dealt with Hawaii being used as an R&R destination for soldiers/sailors on duty in Vietnam. One episode even showed a vet having Nam flashbacks, where we saw actual battle scenes. This was notable b/c, as I said, few other films or TV shows of the late '60s/early '70s even mentioned Vietnam in passing.
