quote:Appreciate that brother. I’ve sunk a little money into it but I’ve also done some wheel-n-deals too. If I were to actually add up all the time and money (value, really because I’ve never paid full price for any of the upgrades and installed/built a lot of the upgrades myself) that are in the suspension and drivetrain, it’s over a $100k for what’s basically a trailer queen now. I drive it to and from work a lot but I only live 1.3 miles from my shop. It won’t do interstate speeds anymore.
95% of four door jeeps are stupid. Yours looks pretty cool though
Wheeling (rock crawling) and camping have become a big part of me and my wife’s vacations and time off. She green lights upgrades and spending anytime we hit an obstacle we can’t beat. (She’s extremely competitive. That’s “Baley’s Boulders”, a side trail off of “Rubicon Ridge” in Arkansas in the picture. I’ve never made it up and I credit that one obstacle for 75% of the upgrades and modifications I’ve done. That picture was taken last Thanksgiving and was the closest I’ve ever been to making it. I get the feeling I won’t make it up until I’m running at least 42” stickies but I just purchased the 39’s a year ago so another set of tires will have to wait..... maybe.
Photo crossing the “Golden Crack” in Moab last summer:

I can’t wait until she OK’s some modification spending on her Gladiator.

People who say 4 doors are soccer mom jeeps have never actually done any serious off roading. People invest a lot of time and money stretching their wheelbase on 2dr jeeps. Long wheelbase 04-06 unlimited commands a big premium. On steep ascents and descents the long wheelbase is a huge advantage. I'm not a owner but my friends are and we've wheeled all over Cali and Utah. Poison spider trail. Hells revenge. Sand hollow. Etc. We will be doing the Rubicon trail in 3 weeks. From what I've seen if you were building a serious crawler you would want to start with a 4 Dr for the wheelbase. You will have to pour a lot of money into a 2dr Jeep to best a stock Rubicon jk with 35s.

Not true at all.
Mostly retired men that drive them around me.
