Who was the first jam band billionaire?

There likely won’t ever be one. Especially since the members of the greatest jam band of all time have resorted to replacing the greatest guitarist of all time with John Mayer.
Jimmy Buffett,

Ehh, he is getting pretty close. His business empire in and of itself is worth well over a billion and he is buying up resorts all around the country/world

They have him listed with a net worth of $600 million. Where do you see over a billion?

That pulls from 4 years ago, FWIW. HE has grown his empire quite a bit since then. These celebrity net worth sites are horrible anyways. I question the value of Jay-z's here as well. He has been known to over inflate his ownership of products.

His business empire is worth well over that, but that doesnt mean his personal net worth is over a billion. Last I heard he was in the 800s. His business have been expanding quite a bit in the past few years

I believe he ended up walking way with 750 million.
But didn't Dre already have enough to put with that 750 to make a billion?
Some of these cats are smart enough to hide wealth from prying eyes so they're not so interested in joining the "3 comma" club as they are keeping the taxman at bay.
I think Dre is one of those folks.
And didn't Bob Johnson (BET) crack a billion some years back? (And he has since rolled back, but still.) If that's not "Hip-Hop", it's at least in the key of Hip-Hop.
