I am a yankee by birth but lived most my life in Louisiana. I love the different accents here, especially the old guys with their cajun accents.

I love my wifes accent and will aggravate her just to set her off to hear it,lol.

The Cajun eleders are a dying breed and we need to fight to keep our Cajun language alive. There are actually some videos on youtube that are trying to pass the Cajun language on to a new generation.

I stand by my contention that the average southerner is less likely to be racist than the average northerner.

Now the next level racists come from the south more often than not.

Nah it’s time to recognize Ebonics as a language for the uneducated.

My father would have none of that. Unless I was my cousins in Sarepta, I was not allowed any Southernism in my speech. My dad explained it this way, “ Right or wrong, if you speak with Southern accent, people all over the Country and World will assume you are ducking stupid.” This was in 77.

So I have no accent

Lived in the south all of my life. I've never
had a "southern" accent.

While some southern accents are delightful, the world would be a better place if more of you mush-mouthed Gumps would learn to speak properly.

This is especially hilarious when they forever butcher New Orleans and also Cajun accents. My favorite is the New Orleans women who sound like southern bells from South Carolina or Georgia. Good lord man.. just do a slower talking Brooklyn accent and you’d get much closer than that

Drawlsy Bostonian would be closer Id think. They are all non-rhotic accents, though.
