Vicenza, Italy – COVID-19 live updates
Date: Apr 04, 2020 – 06:59 p.m.
Italy says 681 people have died in the previous 24 hours, marking the first time in over a week that a daily fatality rate has gone below 700. The country also reported its first-ever drop in coronavirus patients needing intensive care. The number now stands at 3,994, or 74 fewer than the day before.
"This is very important news because it allows our hospitals to breathe," Civil Protection Agency chief Angelo Borrelli said on Saturday. Italy still has a higher death toll than any other country in the world. At least 15,362 people have died of COVID-19 since the outbreak began.
Coronavirus Cases: 124,632
Deaths: 15,362
Recovered: 20,996

Closed Cases: 36,358 – Cases which had an outcome
