Thanks for the info, looks like ps vue and the hd antenna might be the best option for this situation. Just to clear it up I have DirecTV this info is for a female friend going through a divorce and doesn't watch enough tv outside of college football to warrant paying for it the rest of the year.

The external or attic antennas are going to be the "best" for pretty much anywhere, but they are large and cumbersome.

But you're pretty spot on with the cord cutting process. Of course it depends on what you like to watch, but for live sports, it really is a process and using a bunch of different things in hopes of getting a great feed to a sports game. I cut the cord for 2 years, but now I just pay for the cable, just so I don't have to deal with the hassle.

I have kids so I don't mind paying extra for everyone to watch PS vue at the same time on different tvs, and it has more channels.
