I've decided to just change out my 4 factory door speakers. But first I am going to change out my head unit. Kenwood makes a really nice stero/nav combo with a 7" display. Front and back cameras and I can still use my sync/steering wheel controls.
The unit is about $800. I'll start there.
And
to the dumbasses making fun of me for wanted to upgrade factory audio. I've been a musician/drummer for 20 years. I love music. Some of you are pathetic.
I also knew there would be tards in this thread, actually surprised there was so few. And very much thanks to the posters with good advice

You don't really think your friend's set-up is that of an audiophile. That is pure Watson trash son
That setup with the 4 "18's is set up for world record decibel "burps" not music playing.

So what is your point here? God dammit you suck. Dude is asking about a good system and you dump a trunk of amps and woofers and act like that's what audiophiles do.

**update**
added a kicker 10" that is made to fit in my truck (with ported enclosure), replaced all the door speakers (4) with higher end kenwood 6x8". I then tapped one of the rear speakers with a module that turns the signal into a useable RCA input. This module also has a knob that adjust the level of the sub (I put this knob by my right knee). I hooked up my 1100w amp, turned the gain halfway down and wow.
It's basically to much. I have to keep the sub pretty low, and the bass somewhere in the middle on the stock head unit. My door speakers sound really really clean, and the 10" hits way harder then I thought it would.
Overall, my sound system is light years better. Total coast was les then $500 (nephew gave me his amp). The door speakers can handle 200w of power, so eventually I will put another 4 channel amp to power those (the amp for my sub is a 2 channel). Sounds very good. At higher volumes, the bass definitely drowns out the 4 kenwoods, I have to turn the sub way down. I think more power to the door speakers would solve that.
I have no idea why anyone would want more then one 10" subwoofer. That thing gives me a full body massage with rock music. And, it's an entry level kicker, not even the good one (supposedly, but it sounds really good and clean, but only handles 300w rms 600 peak).
Anyway, it was fun.
